Sensor City has been awarded Shaping Futures funding to deliver a programme to inspire students in Years 9-11 to study STEM subjects at university.
Sensor City is a collaboration between the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University and is a flagship University Enterprise Zone. The technical innovation centre fosters creation, development, production and the promotion of cutting edge sensor technology for use in a wide range of sectors, by bringing together industry and academic partners to translate innovate sensor concepts into commercially viable solutions.
Working with a range of partners including: All About Stem, Liverpool Girl Geeks, Santander, CNC Robotics, Tarmac, Plus Dane Housing and Domino Printing Sciences. Sensor City will be running a series of events to link industry with schools, including:
- A mini Big Bang @ Sensor City event
- Industry Challenge Hackathons
- Industry led in school careers assemblies
- Tech 4 Teens, a STEM based interactive workshop for girls
